Freeman and the Professional Convention Management Association took a design-thinking approach to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
PCMA’s main objective is to provide a world-class learning experience at their annual Convening Leaders conference. PCMA tests new market trends each year to inspire and facilitate innovation in the events industry.
PCMA turned to Freeman to take the conference to the next level. Industry leaders frequently attend conferences to learn how to improve the audience experience.
ENGAGEMENT IN ACTION
The general session ballroom was designed to seat 3400 guests. In less than 30 minutes, Freeman worked with the Convention Centre team to convert this into two smaller rooms to accommodate an additional 1100 meeting professionals. Freeman executed Scenic Design and Decor elements throughout the facility including the luncheon room.
The Convening Leaders conference was streamed live, engaging over 1400 online attendees in the conversation.
At 140 feet wide and 32 feet tall, the Blended Projection Screen stretched the full length of the ballroom to deliver an immersive graphic experience.
The Learning Lounge has evolved over the years at PCMA events. It’s purpose is to encourage exploration and discovery throughout the Vancouver Convention Centre. This year, it was spread over two floors and provided guests a space to unwind with creative activities and network with their peers.
The Freeman Aquarium offered guests a transparent learning opportunity to see how a major event conference is executed.
Guests were crowding around the plexiglass enclosed control room in the Learning Lounge. This housed the Freeman production team. Guests could catch a glimpse of The Freeman Aquarium and learn about what would typically be done behind-the-scenes.
PCMA kept audience members engaged from start to finish with FXP | touch, allowing participants to use their own devices as second screens.
The second screen kept audience members included from the overflow room because they were still a part of the presentation. FXP | touch enhanced the guest’s experience by allowing seamless communication and interaction.
Over 95 percent of the attendees used FXP | touch in a single session. Attendees kept engaged with a steady stream of comments in the live feed. More than 85 percent of the session attendees thought it was a helpful tool.
Success at a PCMA event is not measured by attendance or prestigious guests, it is simply measured by participation and high energy engagement. This is a more insightful, qualitative way to measure success.
The Convening Leaders event truly nurtures creativity among meeting professionals and industry leaders. Refer back to the PCMA website as a resource for event industry professionals.
