With more than 35 years’ event marketing experience—including nearly 20 with Freeman—Janet has the expertise her hotel partners need to implement innovative products and services, grow revenue and market share, and increase commission earnings. Working as a collaborative team, Janet and her colleagues become an extension of the hotel’s staff. She leads these teams in a way that provides an unparalleled customer service experience and encourages sharing best practices and ideas, which paves the way to earning repeat business and positive referrals.
Knowledge is power, so sharing with colleagues her industry expertise is key to Freeman’s future. She is a founding member of Freeman Women’s Development and has served on its Mentorship Committee for four years. Coaching and guiding her teams to be the future generation of Freeman leadership are her favorite aspects of her job.
Janet is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the Professional Convention Management Association; she is also a past president of MPI’s Calgary chapter. Her experience has been recognized through such accolades as the Calgary Chapter of MPI’s Chinook Westwind Award (for mentoring and coaching) and Supplier of the Year for the Calgary White Hat Awards. Over the years, Janet has turned visions into realities for such key clients as the National Energy Board, McCain Foods, and various hotel and venue partner service contracts.
“In our industry, productive interactions are key. The hard part is in the beginning, when we all come together and learn about our clients’ needs and expectations. Building lasting relationships is a sign of progress toward our ultimate goal: a collaborative, long-term partnership that results in successful events.”
